Cache checker

See whether a page is served from a cache, and which response headers say so.

We request the page twice, a moment apart, to see whether a cache warms up.

How it works

What the results mean

We request the page twice and compare the cache-related response headers. The first request may find the cache empty and fill it; the second shows whether the next visitor gets the cached copy.

Cache-Control says how long browsers and shared caches may keep the page. Age is how many seconds ago a cached copy was made, so a value above zero means the page came from a cache. Headers such as X-Cache or X-Cache-Status are added by many caches, with values like HIT, MISS or BYPASS.

A MISS followed by a HIT is a healthy cache. Two MISSes or a BYPASS usually mean the page is marked private, sets a cookie, or caching is off for that address. That is expected for pages that differ per visitor, such as carts, checkouts and account pages.
