Static websites have no PHP and no database; for those, choose a PHP server. Deploys start when you click Deploy now, not on every push. Staging, cloning and moving to another server are not available for static websites yet.

Are .htaccess files read?

No. NGINX serves the files directly, so .htaccess files are not read. Set redirects under Redirects in the panel.

How many static sites can one server hold?

Do I need a domain to start?

No. Every website gets its own preview address with HTTPS. Connect your domain when you are ready.
