Domain & IP lookup

See who a domain is registered with and when it expires, or who runs an IP address.

How it works

What the results mean

For a domain, we read the public registration record kept by its registry: the registrar, when it was registered, last updated and expires, its status codes, its name servers and whether DNSSEC is on. Registries publish this through RDAP, the modern replacement for WHOIS.

Status codes such as clientTransferProhibited are normal locks that stop unauthorised transfers. A status such as redemptionPeriod or pendingDelete means the domain has expired and may be lost if it is not renewed.

For an IP address, we show the record of the regional internet registry for the block it belongs to: the network name, the address range, and the organisation it is assigned to. Many registrars hide owners' contact details for privacy, so those are not shown.
