Notifications and activity

Netkeel tells you when something needs your attention, shows the progress of longer jobs, and keeps a history of what happened in your workspace.

The bell at the top right of the panel opens the Activity panel. A spinner on the bell means a job is running. A red dot means a job failed or something needs attention.

The panel has two parts:

  • Needs attention: open alerts, such as a server that stopped reporting or a certificate about to expire. Each alert says how long it has lasted and what to do next. Dismiss one with its cross.
  • Jobs: backups, restores, installs and other work running in the background, with their progress. Filter them with All, Active, Failed and Done. A failed job may offer Retry, and a queued one Cancel.

Click Clear finished to remove completed and failed jobs from the list.

  1. Click your name at the bottom of the sidebar and choose Account settings.
  2. Open Notifications.
  3. Turn the switches on or off.
  4. Click Save notifications.
Switch What it does
Show notifications in the panel Shows alerts under the bell and in Activity. Turning it off hides every alert below in the panel.
Email alerts to the workspace owner Also emails the alerts you keep on to the workspace owner.
Server offline When a server stops reporting to Netkeel.
Disk almost full When a server’s disk passes 85%.
Failed operations Backups, updates and other operations that did not complete.
Certificates Certificates that are missing or expire within two weeks.

These settings apply to everyone in the workspace. Only the owner or a super admin can change them.

Activity in the sidebar is the workspace’s history: who did what across your account, websites and servers, and what Netkeel did for you. Entries made by Netkeel itself show Netkeel as the user.

Each entry shows the time, the user, the website or server, a group and a description. Some entries have Details you can expand, such as the full error of a failed job.

To narrow the list:

  • Group: the kind of activity, for example Backups.
  • Website: one website.
  • User: one person, or Everyone.
  • Search: a domain or words from the description.

Click Clear filters to start again, and the Time heading to switch between newest and oldest first. Websites and servers that have since been deleted are marked deleted.

The Activity page is available to the owner and super admins. Each server’s page also has its own Activity section.
