Reboot and delete

A reboot restarts the whole server. Its websites are unavailable for a few minutes while it starts again.

Before you reboot, try restarting just the stuck service under Services on the server’s page. It is faster and usually enough. See The server page.

To reboot:

  1. Do one of these:
    • On the server’s page, click Reboot at the top, or go to Settings and click Reboot under Plan and power.
    • On the Servers page, open the server’s ⋮ menu and click Reboot server.
  2. Confirm with Reboot server.

The panel confirms the reboot was requested. The server is back in a few minutes.

Reboot is not available while the stack is still installing, while the server is being upgraded or deleted, or when the provider is busy with the server. The panel shows the reason next to the button.

Deleting a server removes it for good, with everything on it, and stops its billing at the end of that hour.

A server can only be deleted when no websites are left on it, staging copies included. Until then, the panel shows “Move or delete its websites first.”

  • To keep a website, move it to another server.
  • To remove a website, delete it from its own page.
  1. Open the server and go to Settings, or open the server’s ⋮ menu on the Servers page.
  2. Click Delete (or Delete server).
  3. Tick Yes, delete this server.
  4. Click Delete server.

This cannot be undone.

If a server shows Setup failed with “The stack never finished installing”, it has no websites yet. Delete it under Settings and create a new one.
