Logs and analytics

Open the website and go to Hosting › Logs. The tabs switch between:

  • PHP errors: errors and warnings from the website’s PHP, such as fatal errors and plugin notices.
  • Nginx errors: problems the web server hit, such as timeouts and missing files.
  • Access log: every request served for the website, oldest first. Useful for tracing a visitor, a bot or a 404.
  • Firewall blocks: requests turned away, with the rule that matched.

Each log shows its latest 512 KB and refreshes about every 30 seconds while the window is in front.

To find something:

  • click Errors or Warnings to show only those lines;
  • type in Filter lines to search.

Use the buttons at the top right to refresh, download the log as a file, or clear it. Clearing removes the current entries; new ones keep being recorded.

The web server’s access and error logs are also in the logs folder of the file manager, where you can download them.

Go to Hosting › Analytics. Pick a period at the top:

  • Today: per hour, from today’s access log. This counts every request, bots included.
  • Last 7 days: per day.
  • Month: per day for the month you pick.

Switch the chart between Visits, Requests and Bandwidth. Under the chart are totals for unique visitors, visits, pages, requests and bandwidth, with the change from the previous period.

For the 7-day and month views, cards below show Top pages, Traffic sources, Referring sites, Devices, Browsers, Operating systems, Not found (404) and HTTP errors.

Reports are processed regularly. Click Refresh now to process the latest visits straight away. On a new website, the first report appears within an hour of the next visit.

The overview’s Traffic card shows the last 7 days at a glance. Click Open analytics for the full page.

When it is available, the overview’s Loading speed card shows Google PageSpeed Insights scores for Mobile and Desktop, with key measurements under each. 90 and above is fast; under 50 needs attention.

  • Results are kept for a day.
  • Click Test again for a fresh test. It takes about a minute. If a test ran in the last few minutes, wait before testing again.
  • Click Full report to open Google’s detailed report.

A website with password protection can’t be tested, because Google can’t open it.
