Email (SMTP)
By default, WordPress hands its email to the server, and many inboxes treat mail sent that way as spam. Sending through an SMTP provider you trust, such as your email host or a transactional email service, makes password resets, order emails and contact forms far more likely to arrive.
Netkeel doesn’t host mailboxes or send your website’s email itself. You bring the provider; Netkeel connects the website to it.
Set up SMTP
Section titled “Set up SMTP”You need these details from your provider: the SMTP host, port, encryption, username and password, and a sender address the provider has verified.
- Open the website and go to Hosting › SMTP.
- Turn on Send email through SMTP.
- Fill in:
- SMTP host, for example
smtp.example.com; - Port and Encryption: STARTTLS · 587 or TLS · 465. Changing the encryption moves the port to match;
- Username and Password;
- Sender email, an address your provider has verified;
- Sender name (optional), for example your site’s name.
- SMTP host, for example
- Click Save.
The status at the top right changes to On.
Send a test
Section titled “Send a test”- Save your settings first.
- Under Send a test, type a Recipient address.
- Click Send test email.
“Test email accepted by the SMTP server” means your provider took the message. Check the recipient’s inbox, including spam. If the test fails, the panel shows the error. Check the host, port, encryption, username and password.
Change the settings
Section titled “Change the settings”Edit any field and click Save. The saved password stays hidden. Leave it blank to keep it, as long as the host and username stay the same. If you change either of them, enter the password again.
Turn SMTP off
Section titled “Turn SMTP off”- Turn off Send email through SMTP and click Save. The settings are kept, and the website goes back to the server’s own mail delivery.
- To remove the settings completely, click Forget credentials and confirm. SMTP is turned off and the host, username and password are deleted.
If the page says the saved settings are damaged, enter them again and save, or click Forget damaged settings.
Copies of your website
Section titled “Copies of your website”When you clone a website, its SMTP settings aren’t copied, so the copy can’t send mail with your account by mistake. Set SMTP up on the copy if it should send email.
