Add a website
Websites go on servers you already have. Adding one never creates a server and costs nothing extra. If you have no server yet, create one first.
There are three ways to start.
Install a fresh website
Section titled “Install a fresh website”Today, new websites are set up with WordPress. Netkeel installs it, creates your administrator login and sets up HTTPS.
- Open Websites and click Add website. You can also open a server and click Add website there, which picks that server for you.
- Under Domain, type your domain, for example
example.com. No domain yet? Click No domain yet? Start without one and type a Website name instead. - Click Continue, choose a server that shows Ready, and click Continue again.
- Check the review and click Install WordPress.
- Copy the username, email address and password from the window that opens. Click Continue in background if you don’t want to wait.
The website is built on a preview address first, so your domain doesn’t need to point anywhere yet. When you are ready, take it live.
Bring an existing website
Section titled “Bring an existing website”Ask Netkeel to move it
Section titled “Ask Netkeel to move it”Netkeel moves websites from other hosts for free. Open a support ticket from the panel and say which sites you want moved.
Import a Netkeel archive
Section titled “Import a Netkeel archive”If you have a backup or export made by Netkeel (a .tar.gz file), you can restore it into a website:
- Add a fresh website as above.
- Open it and go to Hosting › Import & export.
- Choose Import, then Choose website archive and pick the file.
- Check the Import and restore? window and click Import website archive.
Keep the browser tab open until the upload is received. Netkeel then validates the archive, saves a recovery backup of the current website, and replaces its files and databases. The website keeps its own domain and database connection. Follow progress in the activity panel.
To make an archive of a Netkeel website, open Import & export, stay on Export and click Export website. When it is ready, click Download .tar.gz. A copy is also kept under Backups.
Start from a copy
Section titled “Start from a copy”To build a new website from one you already host, open that website and use Clone website. The copy gets its own domain and can go on any of your servers. See Clone a website.
