Upgrade and storage

When a server runs short of CPU, memory or disk, upgrade it to a bigger plan. Websites, files, databases and IP addresses stay exactly where they are.

  1. Open the server and go to Settings.
  2. Under Plan and power, click Upgrade.
  3. The dialog shows your Current plan and its price. Under Choose a bigger plan, pick a plan. Each one shows what it adds and the difference in price per month.
  4. Read the summary, then tick I accept the new price and the short downtime while the server is resized.
  5. Click Upgrade to the plan you chose.

You only see plans that are bigger than the current one and available in the server’s region. If none are listed, contact support.

  1. The server shuts down.
  2. The cloud provider resizes it.
  3. The server starts again, and Netkeel checks the agent and every website before unlocking the server.

Expect a few minutes of downtime. Progress shows at the top of the server’s page and on its card, as a line that starts “Upgrade to” followed by the new plan and the current step, such as “resizing”. While the upgrade runs, other changes to the server wait. A finished upgrade stays noted on the page for a day.

The upgrade can’t start while the server has tasks in progress. If you see “Wait for this server’s pending tasks to finish before upgrading”, try again in a few minutes.

Billing changes when the resize completes. From then on the server is billed at the new hourly price, capped at the new monthly price.

On Vultr, DigitalOcean and Akamai Cloud servers, disk space comes with the plan. To get more disk, upgrade to a plan with a bigger disk.

An upgrade keeps the server in the same region with the same provider. To change either, create a new server where you want it and move your websites to it.
